Can blepharoplasty go wrong?

A few things you need to evaluate before having eyelid surgery include 1.crease height, 2.excess skin, 3.excess fat, and 4.ptosis. When these factors are imbalanced, your eyelids will appear unattractive.

Crease height

It is considered highly attractive to have a visible crease on your upper eyelid. It is recommended that the crease height be 8 millimeters on average depending on the distance between your eyebrow and the top border of your eyes. Due to diminishing collagen in the eyelids, the crease height should be higher than 8 mm for older Asian patients.

Excess skin and fat

An evaluation by a surgeon should be conducted to separate patients with excess skin and fat. The procedure will then involve marking the eyelid in preparation for surgical creation of a crease. Accordingly, the lower incision line will determine the depth of the crease while the upper incision line will determine the amount of excess skin that will be removed.

Ptosis

A patient with ptosis will usually present with drooping upper eyelids over the eye. The eyelid may droop to the point that it covers the pupil more than 2 millimeters.
